Raquel Dillon1 StarI received an Upstart loan through Cross River bank in 2022, and have been diligently making payments on the loan account. In September 2023; I was in a motor vehicle accident which caused me to be incapacitated. I continued making on time payments until April of 2024; when I started to receive SSDI at which point I was unable to make the large sums of payments. I contacted Upstart and they lowered payments for 2 months. I reached out again when I realized that I would not be returning to work as anticipated - I spoke with several different representatives trying to come to an agreement in lowering the payments just a little while longer. The representatives at Upstart in no uncertain terms told me that it was not possible. I pleaded with them and they told that the software is AI controlled and that Cross River would not agree with my request so it would make no difference if I called the bank. I went further to explain that they are not the only creditors that I have reached out to and that the others have reached an agreement with me, so why are they being so difficult. It is not like I am refusing to repay the loan, I just could not make the large payment amounts. I kept going back and forth with the Upstart representatives to the point where one or two of them became rude and disrespectful which caused me to hang up on them. Later on I received notification that the amount $1523 (3 months) was sent to collections. Since my last communication with Upstart who is representing Cross River Bank, I have returned to work and have resumed my normal payments. I still have not been able to make any payments on the outstanding amounts. Now this morning, I received a letter in the mail from Upstart threatening to “accelerate the loan” if the outstanding balance is not received by December 19 for the full amount owing. Now if I was on disability and unable to make the payments, what makes Upstart and Cross River Bank think that accelerating the loan is going to benefit anyone. I am not refusing to pay, they need to learn to compromise. Life happens to every and anyone. The reason for making this post is that every representative I spoke with at Upstart keeps pointing fingers at Cross River Bank as the one unwilling to compromise on with me or make new a agreement. I wonder why?Wednesday 4th December 2024
Amber Stewart1 StarHORRIBLE experience with this Company. NOT ONLY did they break taxpayers dreams across the country not holding up to their end of the offer BUT NOW they're spitting in their faces by sitting on taxpayers money as long as they possibly can. I MEAN, IF YOU COULDN'T HONOR YOUR 5 DAYS EARLY OFFER then you could have at least released their money ASAP. WE ALL KNOW YOU'RE PREVENTING US FROM GETTING IT EARLY PERIOD. There is a special place for this company's head honchos in 🔥🔥🔥.
Love yours truly, Taxpayers of the country.Monday 24th February 2025
OLEKSANDR KOPYTOV1 StarIRS sent my tax refund to their bank account (1 month ago!!!), because of TurboTax's early refund option, now my refund stuck and I can't reach them to verify the status.
Awful customer service - "pls record your message" -> you record -> nothing happened...Thursday 20th March 2025
Heather Q1 StarI've still been trying to reach them because my Tax return was sent to this bank for some reason and not MY bank. And unfortunately i live like 6 hours away so i cant just 'pop in'. I've been calling this place for days but they don't answer the phones. It just keeps going to voicemail... I'm feeling like i somehow got scammed out of my money... shitty place. I'd avoid it if i were you.Saturday 8th March 2025
Kortney Kruger1 StarIdk what is wrong with this bank but incompetent isn’t even enough of a word to describe them. First of all no way to even get ahold of a person, might as well not even have a phone number! How do you send someone’s tax refund as a check when it should’ve been direct deposit then can’t even cash the check because somehow cross river sent the same check to another customer with duplicate check numbers! Different amount but the check number is the same, people work hard for their money clearly as long as cross river is being paid they could care less about the people they are “serving” also got us flagged from a check cashing place because they said cross river is sending out fake checks.Tuesday 25th February 2025
